Research Interests
My research interests include machine learning and its applications to computer vision. Particularly, I am interested in optimization algorithm design and analysis for machine learning problems. For example, stochastic optimization algorithms for nonconvex problems, imbalanced data and distributionally robust optimization.

Brief biography
Before joining WSU, I was a postdoctoral research associate working with Professor Tianbao Yang at the Computer Science Department of the University of Iowa. I received my Ph.D degree in 2018 from Centre for Artificial Intelligence (CAI) in Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology (FEIT), University of Technology Sydney, Australia (UTS), under the supervision of Professor Yi Yang in the ReLER Lab. I was very fortunate to spend five years with people in the ReLER Lab. In 2013, I received my Bachelor degree from Tianjin University, in Computer Science.
